An article on LOCOMOTION was published as part of the Data for Change Campaign, presenting the project’s three useful and versatile tools. The Data for Change initiative is a campaign coordinated by the Partnership in Statistics for Development in the Twenty-First Century (PARIS21) that aims to demonstrate how more and better data can help deliver the Sustainable Development Goals and improve people’s lives around the world.

“Based on WILIAM (Integrated Assessment Models developed within the scope of LOCOMOTION), different easy-to-use tools will be built, adapted to different profiles of potential users, such as policymakers and civil society,” explained Iñigo Capellán Pérez, a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Valladolid, the lead partner in the project.

Public decision-makers will benefit from the easy-to-use Model Analyzer tool to analyse the impact of the project’s different scenarios. Educators will be able to use a simulation game called the Global Sustainability Crossroads II to increase awareness of climate change. Moreover, civil society will be able to use the user-friendly web-based Model Explorer to actively participate in an evidence-based public debate on pathways towards a carbon-neutral society.
