The University of Pisa, founded in 1343, is one of the most ancient and prestigious universities in Europe, counting 20 large departments, covering all disciplinary areas, with high level research centres. The vitality of higher education and scientific research determines its strength: UNIPI is committed to promoting and supporting research in every field of knowledge, encouraging innovation and openness to new subjects and collaborations between different disciplines. Thanks to the quality of the research undertaken by its academic staff, individually or in teams, UNIPI holds a prominent position in the national and international scientific context. According to the most recent Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2017, the University of Pisa ranks third among Italian Universities, in the top 300 universities in the world. In 2013 the University of Pisa obtained, the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) label and the ECHE (Erasmus Charter for Higher Education). The University of Pisa is an early adopter of the European Charter & Code for Researchers. Compliance with the European Charter & Code for Researchers is formally requested for all procedures aiming at the appointment of researchers (both temporary and permanent positions) and professors.

UNIPI is a member of the European initiative EURAXESS – Researchers in Motion, which provides access to a complete range of information and support services to researchers wishing to pursue their research career in Europe. In LOCOMOTION, UNIPI is represented by the Department of Economics and Management (DEM). DEM has a strong background in the development of qualitative and quantitative models that evaluate the impact of policies both on economic and social aspects. The team members will benefit from collaboration with REMARC (http://remarc.ec.unipi.it), a DEM research center conducting cutting-edge research on responsible management and sustainable development. REMARC research focuses on three main areas – i.e. International Business and Human Rights; Communicating and Practising Corporate Social Responsibility and Societal Transition for a Sustainable Economy – and on a set of smaller related projects. Through research, REMARC seeks to shape policy makers’ thinking on economic development strategies, and work towards transformations that reduce injustice and inequalities. REMARC is part of the Sustainability Centres Community, hosted by the Network for Business Sustainability.
