LOCOMOTION policy event
Final policy event to present LOCOMOTION results.
This event is part of the final policy event of the Horizon 2020 project called LOCOMOTION (‘Low-carbon society: an enhanced modelling tool for the transition to sustainability’) taking place in Brussels on the 26th of October. The event is divided in two parts. The first part is targeted towards Civil Society and aims to present the latest findings emerging from the project in five different areas (see the agenda) as well as its policy recommendations for the EU’s green and just transition. In addition to its findings, we aim to discuss its implications for advocacy and how integrated assessment models can support their work. The second part is targeted towards policymakers and modelling experts and aims to introduce the main features, as well as present a selection of case studies showcasing the capabilities of the model. One of the primary goals of LOCOMOTION is to improve the representation of the interactions between society, economy, resources (energy, materials, land, water), and the environment in Integrated Assessment Models, with a focus on policy design. The WILIAM model also aims to improve policy and scenario design transparency (open source), accessibility (user-friendly tools), goals (integration of socioeconomic and environmental limits), and acceptability (representation of diverse households, industries, and government). WILIAM will ultimately assist policymakers and civil society in identifying the most effective pathways to a sustainable and climate- neutral society.
